Welcome to Purcell
Purcell, Oklahoma is an active city with population near 6,700.  Purcell is a outer suburb of Oklahoma City located along I-35 corridor in the central part of the state, on a bluff over looking Canadian River, it is also the county seat for McClain County.  Purcell was founded as a railroad town in 1887, with the coming of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad.  The City of Purcell is named in honor of ATSF railroad director Edward Benton Purcell, of  Manhattan, Kansas.     The City of Purcell is oftern called the Quarterhorse Capital of the world, the city is proud to say our offical motto and registered trade mark name is “Heart of Oklahoma”.
